Top Household Items that are Surpisingly Toxic

  1. Non-Stick Cookware. The chemicals that create that non-stick surface are carcinogens. YIKES. Switch over to stainless steel, cast iron or copper pots & pans instead.

  2. Air Fresheners. These fake scents contain toxins that accumulate in the body and have been noted to affect hormones and reproduction. (Did you see the spec sheets from Bath & Body Works????)

  3. Perfumes. The 'proprietary blends' of the companies can hide a host of toxins. These can cause damage to numerous body systems. Swith to using an essential oil instead.

  4. Aluminum Containing Deodorant. Aluminum has long been linked to various complaints such as Alzheimer's and cancer. Even when it enters the body via deodorant. Ditch your aluminum can beverages too!

  5. Fluoride Toothpaste. Fluoride is a neurotoxin that affects our brain health. While this mineral was touted as beneficial to our teeth, it accumulates in the body and we're often getting enough in our drinking water and food.

  6. Sunscreen with oxybenzone. We wear sunscreen to protect our skin but when it contiains oxybenzone, we're doing more harm than good. Read your labels and go to a more natural sunscreen.

  7. Most cleaning supplies. I know, I know. The chemicals in these are often under the same 'proprietary ingredient' laws as perfumes so we don't know what we're getting into. There are tons of better options.

  8. Fabric Softener. The ingredients in fabric softener can lead to health problems such as headache, lightheadedness and fatigue, serious organ and central nervous system damage, and even cancer. YIKES again!

  9. Makeup. This probably isn't surprising. Switch to cleaner options.

Replacing these items with cleaner, toxin free items will create a huge difference in your life and health.
